SoundGym Ltd. (“GuitarGym”, “we”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Please read the full policy below for more detailed information.
We collect several types of information about you when you use GuitarGym:
Information You Provide: When you register for GuitarGym, we ask for personal details such as your username, email address, and password. You may also provide additional profile information (for example, your full name, date of birth/age, gender, country, a profile photo, your guitar playing level, etc.) and any content you add to your profile (like a bio, pictures, or music clips). If you subscribe to paid features or make purchases, you provide payment information; this may include your billing details. (Payment information is processed securely by our payment processor and is not stored in full on our servers, aside from necessary transaction records.)
Content and Activity: We collect information about the content you create on GuitarGym and your activities. This includes posts or comments you make in the community, the games or exercises you participate in, your achievements, the virtual guitars (vGuitars) you collect or trade, and any other actions on the platform. Keep in mind that posts, achievements, and similar activities may be public by nature, so others can view them.
Automatically Collected Data: Like most online services, we gather technical and usage data when you use GuitarGym. This includes:
Third-Party Data: If you connect via a third-party account (for example, sign up using Google/Facebook or another service), we may receive certain information from that account (such as your name or email) as permitted by the provider and authorized by you. Also, if you engage with GuitarGym social media pages or plugins, those platforms may share information with us under their policies.
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
To Provide and Maintain Services: We process your registration and create your account. Your information allows you to log in, personalize your profile, and use various GuitarGym features (learning tools, games, community interactions, etc.). For example, we display your username and profile info on content you post. If you make a purchase or subscription, we use your details to process the payment and provide access to premium features.
To Improve and Customize GuitarGym: We analyze usage data (including through third-party analytics tools) to understand how users interact with our platform. This helps us troubleshoot issues, develop new features, and improve functionality and user experience. It also allows us to personalize content for you, such as recommending exercises or showing relevant posts or ads.
Communication: We use your contact information (email address) to send you service-related communications. These include confirmations (e.g. when you sign up or make a purchase), important alerts (such as security notifications or changes to this Policy or our Terms), and updates about new features or tips on using GuitarGym. We may also send newsletters or promotional emails about events, contests, or offers if you have not opted out. You can manage email preferences or unsubscribe at any time in your account settings or via the unsubscribe link in emails.
Social and Community Features: Information like your username, profile details, achievements, and posts are used to populate your profile and to facilitate interaction with other members. For example, if you allow it, other users can see when you’re online, view your profile, or send you messages (subject to your privacy settings choices).
Security and Fraud Prevention: We process information to keep our platform safe and secure. This includes monitoring for suspicious activity or violations of our Terms of Use, debugging and repairing errors, and protecting against fraud, spam, and abuse. If necessary, we may use certain data to investigate and prevent malicious activities or unauthorized access to user accounts.
Legal Compliance: We may use your data as required to comply with applicable laws and regulations, or to respond to lawful requests or orders from law enforcement or other government authorities.
Advertising and Marketing: We (and our advertising partners) may use cookies and data about your activities to deliver personalized advertisements for GuitarGym on our site and on third-party platforms. For example, if you visit certain pages on GuitarGym, we might later show you our advertisement on Facebook or Google’s network. We also use information like your preferences and behaviors to market our service (for instance, highlighting features you haven’t tried). All such marketing use is done in accordance with this Policy and applicable law – for instance, if required, we will obtain your consent for certain marketing cookies or allow you to opt out. (See Cookies and Tracking below for more on ad cookies and how to control them.)
We understand the importance of keeping your personal information private. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We only share your information in the following circumstances:
With Service Providers and Partners: We share data with trusted third-party service providers who perform functions on our behalf. These include hosting providers (to store our data securely), payment processors (to handle billing transactions), analytics providers (to help us understand usage), email service providers (to send out communications), and customer support tools. These partners only receive the information necessary to perform their specific services, and they are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for our purposes.
With Other Users (Per Your Settings): Some information is shared with other GuitarGym members by the nature of the platform. For example, when you post an update or achievement, it may be visible to other users or the public. Your profile information can be seen by others according to the visibility settings you choose. If someone follows you, your username and any profile info you make visible will be shown to them. If you participate in a community forum or competition, other participants may see your contributions and profile name.
For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation or request (such as a subpoena, court order, or search warrant). We will also share data if required to enforce our Terms of Use or this Privacy Policy, to investigate or defend against third-party claims or allegations, or to assist government enforcement agencies.
To Protect Rights and Safety: We may share information when we believe it’s necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of SoundGym Ltd., our users, or the public. For example, we might share data with law enforcement to report suspected illegal activity or to investigate violations of our platform’s security.
Business Transfers: If SoundGym Ltd. is involved in a merger, acquisition, asset sale, bankruptcy, or other transaction involving a transfer of some or all of our business assets, your information may be transferred to the successor or acquiring entity as part of that deal. In such cases, we will ensure the confidentiality of your personal information is maintained and give you notice before your data is transferred or becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
With Your Consent: In situations where you explicitly consent to or request data sharing, we will share your information accordingly. For instance, if you use an integration or feature that asks to share data with a third party (such as an authorized app or a research project), we will do so only with your permission.
Aggregated or De-Identified Data: We may share information that has been aggregated (combined with other users’ data) or de-identified (stripped of personal identifiers) such that it cannot reasonably be used to identify you. For example, we might publish usage statistics (e.g., "X number of users from a certain country completed a particular guitar exercise") or share generalized learning trends with our community or partners. Such data is not considered personal.
Aside from the scenarios above, we will not share your personal information with third parties. If we ever need to share your data in other cases, we will obtain your permission or at least give you a clear opportunity to opt out.
Like most websites and online services, GuitarGym uses cookies and similar tracking technologies (such as web beacons, pixels, and local storage) to collect and use data. These technologies help our site function, enable additional features, and provide insights into how users interact with our platform.
What Are Cookies? Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer or mobile) when you visit a website. They allow the site to recognize your device and store certain information about your preferences or past actions. There are also similar technologies, like browser local storage and pixels, that can store or retrieve data on a device.
How We Use Cookies: GuitarGym uses cookies for several reasons:
Do-Not-Track Signals: Some web browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal or setting. At this time, GuitarGym does not respond to DNT signals because there is no industry-standard way to interpret them. We will update this practice if a uniform standard is established.
You have choices to manage or disable cookies. Most browsers allow you to remove or reject cookies, either for specific sites or all sites. Please note that if you disable cookies, some features of GuitarGym may not function properly (for example, you might have to log in repeatedly or some preferences might not be saved). For more information on how to manage cookies, check your browser’s help documentation. For choices regarding advertising cookies, see the Your Rights and Choices section below.
To better understand our user base and improve our service, GuitarGym uses several third-party analytics and tracking tools. These partners may set and access cookies or other tracking technologies on your device and collect data about your usage of our platform. We want to be transparent about who these third parties are and why we use them:
Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to gather statistical information about our site usage. Google Analytics sets cookies to estimate the number of visitors, analyze how users arrive at and use our platform, and understand the overall user journey. This helps ensure the site is available, fast, and functional. Google may collect identifiers like your IP address (which we anonymize where required) and information about your activities. You can learn how Google uses data on Google's Privacy Policy page and you can opt out of Google Analytics by installing Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
Facebook Pixel: We use the Facebook Pixel on our site to help measure the effectiveness of our Facebook advertising and to reach people who have visited GuitarGym.
Amplitude: Amplitude is an analytics platform we use to understand user behavior within GuitarGym. It helps us analyze how you interact with features (for example, which games are played most or how often certain tools are used). This insight guides our product improvements and feature development.
Microsoft Clarity: We partner with Microsoft Clarity to better understand user experience on our site. This helps us see how users navigate GuitarGym and identify areas to improve or bugs to fix.
These third-party tools collect and use information under their own privacy policies. However, we ensure that any data these parties collect on our behalf is used solely for the purposes we've described (analytics, research, and advertising for GuitarGym) and in compliance with applicable laws.
We retain your personal information for only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, as described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Here’s how we approach data retention:
Active Account Data: If you have an active GuitarGym account, we retain the information associated with your account for as long as you are a user of our platform. This allows us to provide you with your account history, progress, and a seamless experience each time you return.
Inactive Accounts: If your account becomes inactive (for example, you stop using the service for an extended period), we may retain your data for a reasonable period in case you return, but we will periodically review and delete or anonymize data that is no longer needed. We might contact you before deletion of an inactive account to give you an opportunity to keep it active.
Account Deletion: If you choose to delete your GuitarGym account, you can do so at any time (see Your Rights and Choices below for how to delete your account). When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal data associated with your account so that you can no longer be identified, subject to the exceptions below. For example, your profile information and personal details will be removed from our active systems. Content you posted (such as community posts) will no longer be attributed to you; while posts themselves might remain visible if they were shared in public areas, they will be disassociated from your identity (other users will just see an anonymous or deleted user label).
Aggregated Data: Even after deletion of your account or personal data, we may keep data that is aggregated or anonymized (so it’s no longer associated with you personally) for analytics, research, or statistical purposes. This data cannot identify you and may be used to improve GuitarGym or report on business metrics.
We value the security of your personal information and implement industry-standard security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of your data. These measures include physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. For example:
Despite all our efforts, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. Thus, we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information. We encourage you to help us keep your account secure as well: choose a strong, unique password and keep it confidential, and notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorized access to your account.
If we become aware of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law.
You have a number of rights and choices when it comes to your personal data and how it's used. GuitarGym is designed to give you control over your information through your account settings, and we also support additional privacy rights provided by law. Below, we outline your key rights and the options available to you:
Access and Correction
You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you. This means you can request a copy of the data you provided to us or that we have collected about you. In most cases, you can simply view and edit this information yourself by logging into your GuitarGym account and checking your profile and account settings. For example, you can review your profile details, update information like your email address or profile picture, and correct any inaccuracies.
Privacy Settings (Profile, Messaging, Online Status)
We give you tools to control your privacy on GuitarGym:
Profile Visibility: You can decide who can view your profile page and the information on it. The options are:
Direct Messages: You can control who is allowed to send you direct messages on GuitarGym:
Online Status: By default, GuitarGym might show when you are online or active to other users (for example, a green dot indicator on your profile or name). You have the choice to toggle your online status visibility. If you turn off the online status, other users will not see whether you are currently online or when you last used GuitarGym.
These privacy settings are available in your account settings. We encourage you to review them and choose the settings that you are most comfortable with. You can change these settings at any time, and changes take effect immediately. We design these controls to give you flexibility in how much of your GuitarGym activity is shared with others.
We respect your preferences for how we communicate with you:
You have the right to delete your account and personal data. You can delete your GuitarGym account by going to your account settings and selecting the delete option (or by contacting our support if you cannot find the option). Deleting your account will remove your personal profile information and disconnect your username from content you have contributed. As noted in the Data Retention section, after deletion, your posts or content in shared areas may still exist but will no longer be linked to you. We process account deletion requests promptly. Keep in mind that this action is irreversible – once your account is deleted, we cannot restore it or recover your data (except what remains in backups for a limited time). If you accidentally deleted your account, you might need to create a new account to use GuitarGym again.
GuitarGym is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use GuitarGym or provide any personal data to us.
If you are between 13 and the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, you should use GuitarGym only with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 (or under the applicable age of consent), we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
Parents or guardians who believe that their child under 13 may have provided us personal information should contact us immediately so we can delete it.
We may update or change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes (significant alterations to how we handle your data), we will notify you in a manner appropriate to the significance of the changes. For example, we may display a prominent notice on our website or send you an email notification. Minor changes (such as clarifications or typographical fixes) may be simply updated on the website Privacy Policy page with a new effective date.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. The top of the policy will show the effective date. Your continued use of GuitarGym after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes acceptance of the revised terms, to the extent permitted by law.
If you do not agree with any changes to the Privacy Policy, you should stop using the service and, if you wish, delete your account.
